Why Raise Your Home?
Many of LBI’s homes are Cape Cods, built between 1945 and 1970. They actually appear to be sinking into the ground. This is not true, what is actually happening is that the ground is being built up around them from new construction projects, and landscaping. This is forming a pit under the houses about 8 inches deep that many times is filled with water during high tides and after storms. This is causing various problems such as mold, settling and deterioration. We usuallly raise the homes only three to four courses of block, which is 2-3 feet, unless the homeowner is looking for extra living area, garage or views. This usually brings the home up to legal flood level which results in a reduction in flood insurance, and freedom from damage during storms.
