According to the FEMA Costal Analysis and Mapping my house in Beach Haven had an ABFE of 8′ and now it has been revised to 9′ in Zone A. Does that mean that my house only needs to be elevated by at least 1′ to comply? Or 3′ (1′ + 2′ above that) to have the maximum compliance and lowest flood insurance premiums?
My ABFE ia now 9′ (NAVD88). The house is on 10′ pilings. We came through the storm dry. Do we have to raise the house higher? Many thanks.
The ABFE of 9′ means 9′ above sea level. If your house is currently 10′ above grade, my guess would be that you are definitely 9′ above sea level. However, there are some other requirements that would bring the height you need to 11′ above sea level. The only way to know for sure is to obtain an elevation certificate from a surveyor.
